As part of Atlantic Knife's Creator of the Month series, we’re diving into the exceptional world of Shed Knives and its brilliant designer, Jack Billings. Known for his rugged, high-performance knives, Jack has quickly become a force to be reckoned with in the knife-making community. Today, we’re spotlighting some of his most popular models that have taken the market by storm. From heavy-duty fixed blades to tactical designs, let’s break down what makes these knives stand out and why they’ve become favorites among enthusiasts.

Shed Tuatara 2023 Fixed Blade

One of the standout models from Shed Knives is the Tuatara 2023 Fixed Blade. If you're a fan of versatile, heavy-duty knives, this one is definitely worth a look. Featuring a 4.25” 154CM steel blade, the Tuatara excels in both toughness and edge retention, making it perfect for everything from chopping to cutting rope. The clip point blade shape with a flat grind and stonewashed finish offers a refined and functional design, and it holds up to the test of various tasks.

The handle scales are made of black G10, which provide a solid grip, even in the most challenging environments. With a total length of around 10” and a full tang construction, it’s built for durability. Plus, the knife comes with a black Kydex belt sheath, making it easy to carry on your outdoor adventures. Whether you’re tackling survival situations or just looking for a reliable tool for everyday tasks, the Tuatara is an excellent choice.

The Tuatara saw some design tweaks for the 2024 model, including adjustments to the lanyard hole, blade shape, and markings. The addition of camo G10 scales was another improvement that further boosted its popularity. For only $144, this knife is a steal, especially considering the high-quality materials and craftsmanship involved.

Shed Knives Resilience 2024 Fixed Blade

Next up, we have the Resilience 2024 Fixed Blade, which has become another fan favorite in the Shed Knives lineup. With a 7.52” overall length and a 2.72” 154CM steel blade, the Resilience is an ideal option for hunters and outdoorsmen. Whether you’re processing game or handling materials, this blade can take on the job with ease.

The unique camo design, composed of OD green, coyote tan, and black burl G10, not only gives the knife a distinct look but also provides an excellent grip. Whether you're in the rain or snow, the handle ensures that you’ll maintain control of the blade. Plus, it includes a lanyard hole and a black Kydex belt sheath for easy carry.

Retailing for $140.49, the Resilience is a fantastic choice for anyone in need of a high-quality, American-made hunting knife that will last for years to come. If you want a blade that looks great, performs well, and holds up under rigorous conditions, the Resilience is an option you shouldn’t overlook.

Shed Knives US Tanto 2024 Fixed Blade

The US Tanto 2024 Fixed Blade is one of the most distinctive knives in the Shed Knives lineup, featuring a 3.125” tanto-style blade made from 154CM steel. This blade shape is perfect for piercing tasks, and the strength of the tip allows for heavy-duty puncturing. Its flat grind design ensures it remains versatile for various cutting and slicing tasks, making it perfect for tactical use and everyday carry (EDC).

At 8” overall, the US Tanto offers a great balance between size and functionality, without feeling too bulky. The G10 handle scales, once again in a camo pattern, provide excellent grip, and the included black Kydex sheath ensures easy and secure carry. For just $111.36, this tactical EDC blade provides serious cutting ability and rugged reliability.

One feature that stands out to me in particular is how thick these Shed Knives are—over 0.25” thick, which makes them feel incredibly durable and hefty in hand. And I’ll admit, I do prefer the newer versions of the US Tanto, especially with the larger lanyard hole, which is a great touch. While I love the design of the US Tanto, I personally feel the ergonomic handle of the Tuatara could have been carried over to this model to give it even more comfort. But even so, this knife remains one of my favorites.

Shed Knives Conquest 2024 Fixed Blade

Let’s talk about the Shed Knives Conquest 2024 Fixed Blade, which offers a unique design that focuses on self-defense. With a 3.72” 154CM steel blade and a stonewashed finish, the Conquest is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a compact, powerful knife that can serve as a tactical tool in tight situations. The hollow grind and jimping on the blade further improve control and precision, while the 0.227” thickness gives it the durability to withstand intense use.

The handle scales are once again crafted from OD green, coyote tan, and black burl G10, offering a great balance between aesthetics and functionality. At 8.5” in total length, this knife feels exceptionally well-balanced in hand. The thumb hold design provides additional control, and the pommel is built for striking, making it an excellent choice for those in need of a multipurpose tool for self-defense.

With a price tag of $144.11, the Conquest is on the higher end, but the craftsmanship and performance are well worth the investment. The fact that all Shed Knives come with removable scales for easy cleaning is another great feature, especially for those who use their knives in the field regularly.

Upcoming Designs: US Tanto 2025 and Skur 2025

Jack Billings is always refining his designs, and his new releases don’t disappoint. The US Tanto 2025 takes the classic US Tanto to the next level, with updated design features that enhance its performance and overall usability. Additionally, the Skur 2025 is an exciting new design with a unique blade shape that promises to turn heads and sell out quickly. Keep an eye out for these new models—if they’re anything like their predecessors, they’ll be worth the wait!

Jack Billings has certainly made a name for himself with Shed Knives, and his creations are a testament to his passion and dedication to the craft.
