The American knife brand Kershaw is well-known for introducing the SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism. This technology was patented in 1996. Kershaw introduced the SpeedSafe technology on their Ken Onion Random Task model in 1998, which won Blade Magazine’s American Made Knife of the Year award.
