Kubey Wave Crest Review – Sharp Style Meets Everyday Utility
Hey everyone, and welcome back to Jimping with Jacrispy blog review! Today, we’re taking a closer look at a brand-new release from Kubey Knives – the Wave Crest. Whether you're deep into the EDC game or just love seeing great design meet function, this knife brings something fresh to the table.
But before we dive in – don’t forget to share the post with your fellow knife nerds, and of course, subscribe to our YouTube channel or newsletter to stay updated on the latest reviews and releases. Alright, let’s cut to it.
Unboxing the Wave Crest
First impressions matter, and Kubey nails it with the Wave Crest’s packaging.
The box features a sleek, matte black design with the Kubey logo printed cleanly on the front. The font is sharp and modern, just like the knife inside. On the back, you’ll find some product specs and branding – nothing over the top, just clean presentation.
Inside the box, Kubey includes some nice extras:
-
A high-quality cleaning cloth
-
A couple of Kubey stickers
-
And of course, the knife itself, neatly secured in a foam cut-out
It's always a bonus when brands give you more than just the knife. Props to Kubey for that.

Variants & Availability
As of this review, the Wave Crest is available in 4 different variants, including the one we’re featuring today: the light-blue G10 handle version. All four options are now available for purchase directly through our website. So whether you're into bold colors or something more low-key, there’s a version for you.
Handle & Ergonomics
-
Material: G10 (Light-Blue)
-
Length: 4.88"
-
Grip Feel: Solid and textured just enough for confident handling
The G10 scales feel grippy but not overly aggressive, and the light-blue color pops without being too loud. There’s no lanyard hole on this model, which might be a downside for some, but it keeps the lines of the handle nice and clean.
Pocket Clip
-
Yes, it comes with a pocket clip
-
Reversible? Unfortunately, no. It’s set for right-hand tip-up carry only.
That said, the clip has great tension and doesn't create any hot spots during use or carry. It’s low-profile but sturdy enough for regular pocket carry.
Locking Mechanism
-
Type: Liner Lock
The liner lock engages with a satisfying click and provides a secure hold with no blade play. It's easy to disengage one-handed without feeling flimsy.
Blade Specs
-
Steel: 14C28N – a solid stainless choice that offers good edge retention and corrosion resistance
-
Style: Pikal Point – not something you see every day, especially in production knives
-
Length: 3.78"
-
Grind: Flat
-
Finish: Satin
-
Deployment: Thumb studs
-
Jimping: Yes – just the right amount on the spine for added control
The Pikal-style blade is a standout feature. Originally designed for reverse-grip self-defense use, the shape also excels at utility tasks due to the aggressive tip and slicing angle. It's a bold choice by Kubey, and it gives the Wave Crest a unique identity in a sea of drop points and tantos.
