From Hobby to Industry Disruption

What began as a casual hobby between three friends in 2018 has quickly transformed into one of the most exciting knife brands in the industry. Shed Knives, founded by Jack Billings, started in a humble garage with a makeshift forge and a lot of passion. The first piece ever created wasn’t even a knife—it was a handmade katana, crafted from scrap steel found in the woods, with pallet wood for handle scales and brass coat hangers for pins. It was rough, but it was the start of something special.

A Journey of Growth

As time went on, the team of friends continued to refine their craft, moving from makeshift tools to better equipment. By 2019, Jack Billings became the sole founder of Shed Knives and was determined to bring high-quality, American-made knives to a wider audience. The brand began producing knives like the Sheepsfoot, US Tanto, and Drop Point, selling them locally to friends, family, and enthusiasts.

But the game-changer came in 2020 with the release of the Skur. What was originally a design mistake—Jack sanding too much off a finger groove—turned into a unique, swooping design that became a top seller. The Skur was a breakthrough that solidified Shed Knives as a brand to watch.

Precision Craftsmanship Meets Overbuilt Durability

Today, Shed Knives is known for its commitment to creating knives with “overbuilt” durability. Each blade is crafted from 154CM steel and paired with custom G10 scales for an unbeatable combination of strength and functionality. The knives are designed for serious outdoor enthusiasts, collectors, and anyone who values quality craftsmanship. Every blade is built to last, ensuring it’s ready for whatever challenges you face.

A Vision for the Future

Jack Billings is not just running a knife company—he’s shaping an entire brand vision. Drawing inspiration from some of the world’s most successful companies, like Amazon, Porsche, and Ferrari, Jack’s goal for Shed Knives is nothing short of revolutionizing the knife industry. The brand has grown from a local startup to a nationwide sensation, with products now sold across the U.S. and a rapidly expanding presence in the global market. The brand and it's owner are always striving towards improvement with each years new models. Refining and modifying each model till its quality matches the form and function that can only be SHED KNIVES. This can be seen in the model changes of the 2023 knives such as the Tuatara, the Resilience, the US Tanto to their latest releases of 2025.
