Al buck with it being put on there 110 models but goes back further to France, Italy, Spain and England in the 15th. Century.
Hoyt Buck was credited with the backlock on the model 110
Al buck popularized and “invented” the modern lockback mechanism. I think it was the Buck 110, but the original lockback idea goes all the way back to 1600’s Spain.
